Think to ink writting challenge 1

Hi! I'm in another writing challenge, yay! This one is being hosted by Grace. :)

Grace, I used all three prompts, and I will insert the images when I come to them. I also mentioned a quill, and I will highlight that.

By the way, I'm on team quill. :)

Let's start now, shall we? :D

I skipped along the sidewalk to the park, humming happily. I had gotten an A+ on my math test,  I was going to my best friend's house for a sleepover tomorrow, and we were having lasagna for dinner! I smiled again at the thought of it. I reached the entrance to the park, and started looking around for my sister, Lihn. I spot her sitting at a table, deep in conversation with a few of her friends. I stop humming. Oh no. I think. I head over.

When I get in earshot, I hear: "Alright. So that's settled."Lihn's friends nod and leave. I walked up to Lihn. "You can't do this." I say. Lihn whipped her head around, startled. 

  

Then she saw me and frowned. She never spoke, never made a sound, but the look in her eyes told me exactly what was about to happen. 

 

"Look, you can't do this!" I cried. "No matter what mom and dad say, this will break them." Lihn stopped frowning and looked tired. "We've already been over this Nina, you know why I have to." I scowled. Lihn sighed. "Why did you come?" She asked. "Mom wanted me to get you. It's almost time for dinner." I keep scowling. She gets up, and we go home. I have trouble eating the lasagna, and ask to be excused early. 

That night, I wake up around 1:00 in the morning, and can't fall back asleep. It's a full moon, and very bright. I walk over to my specimen shelf, and examine my rocks, shells, butterflies, and a large feather which would have made a wonderful quill. I go back to my bed and look out the window. Then I see something, moving across the yard. It's Lihn. I push back the curtain to see better. 

 

She swiftly crossed the yard, and was crossing the meadow to the forest when I heard it: Lihn was singing. Soft, sweet, and comforting. And as I watched, she turned, waved, and blew a kiss. How she knew I was up, I don't know. But I waved back, and watched as she reached the woods. Two people stepped out to meet her, but I couldn't see who they were. The three of them stopped for a moment, as if talking, then the two turned and went back into the forest, Lihn following. I stayed at the window for a long time. Then I sighed, and went back to bed.

doll book bags

Oh gosh, how long has it been since I posted? I think I was due yesterday.....*nervous laugh* so please excuse me, I've been reading the hunger games series and I'm still in shock.
I will attempt to pull myself together long enough to show you how to make the bags that the dolls use in this post. :)

You will need:
1. Fabric or felt
2. Pins, a needle, and thread
3. Sew or iron on velcro
4. A ruler, pen or pencil, and scissors
5. A button or bead, and ribbon (optional) 

Step 1. Measure, trace, and cut out a rectangle and square, 5" by 6 1/2", and 5" by 4 1/2"

Step 2. Measure, trace, and cut out three rectangles, two 1 3/4" by 4 1/2", and the other 1 3/4" by 5" 

Step 3. Pin the two smaller rectangles to the big rectangle from step 1, like in the picture. Sew it.

Step 4. Fold them open, and pin the other small rectangle to the bottom, like in the picture. Sew.

Step 5. Pull up the corners like in the picture, pin to secure, and sew it. 

Step 6. Now put the square in, It should line up perfectly. Sew it in, you should have a pretty good sized pocket. 

Step 7. Fold the edges of the pocket out, and hem.

Step 8. Turn it around, and hem the part that sticks out.

Step 9. Fold it inside out. Add some velcro, a small piece to the top and a longer piece to the bottom so it can be adjusted. 

Step 10. Now add a 13 1/2"  ribbon or fabric strap, and a button or a bead for decoration. 

You're done! Now your doll has a bag to carry all her books in. :)

3-ring binders

Hi! 
Any way, time for binders! Rudy made some, which you can see HERE, but I like mine because these are like the kind I use. :) 

You will need:
1. Thin cardboard, like from cereal boxes
2. Duck tape, or scrapbook paper, construction paper, or colored cardstock and packaging tape 
3. A zip-lock bag
4. Paper clips
5. A ruler, pen or pencil, scissors, and glue (hot glue preferable)

Step 1. Take your cardboard, and cut out three rectangles, two of them 3" by 3 1/2", and the other 3/4" (or smaller) by 3 1/2".

Step 2. Lay down the pieces like in the picture, leaving a teensy little space between, on a strip of duck tape, and fold over the edges. (The bigger edges they are, the easier it will be.)
No duck tape? use paper, but you will have to glue down the edges, and the cover them with packaging tape. 

Step 2. Once you've covered it all, fold it.

Step 3. Flatten it out again, and cut a piece of zip-lock bag that lines up with the top, but has a good border on the sides and bottom.

Step 4. Glue the bottom and edges in, and make sure that it's not to tight, so the folder still shuts.

Now you have a clear pocket on the spine, back, and front to stick drawings or schedules. 

Step 5. Now cover the cardboard with more duck tape or paper covered in packaging tape.

Step 6. Glue on little pockets the the front and back.

Step 7.  And glue little curves of paperclip on the spine for rings. Slide doll sized pieces of paper onto them, and curve the edges down, so they don't fall off. 

Done! And that's it for now, Bye!

Off to Hogwarts!

Hello ya'll! It's the first of September, and that means Hogwarts!

Here is Kit's robe. I made them new ones this year, And I like how they turned out! Kit will be starting her third year.

Here is Ruthie's robe. She will be starting her second year.

Here is Elizabeth's robe. She will be starting her first year. Then why does she have her crest and matching line already? We're pretending the are hand me downs from her mother, Daisy. ;) 

I also made her a gray pleated skirt. :)

And her book bag is pink with horses, it's obvious that she has a muggle dad. ;)

Let's take a look in Kit's bag.....

Rolls of parchment. Just off white paper, cut into strips.

A quill. Any old feather, they can even be colorful! But.....

....I use the colorful ones for sugar quills. :)

A chocolate frog, which she has unwrapped but not eaten, and her collection of chocolate frog cards.

And your ticket. I won't give you a printable, because there are so many perfect images on the internet, so you can pick the one you like best. :)

Kit's books! (And cat. :) ) The printables for the unfogging the future and standard book of spells, I made HERE. I know it's a random collection, that will be fixed by next year. :) The covers are made like the blue book in the back that was made HERE. 

The unfogging the future had 70 pieces of paper in it, and each page was different. I had sections for all the different ways they (tried) to read the future, hee hee. I stuck the pages together the way Rudy did HERE, but then I just hot glued the pages onto the spine. 

For the standard books of spells, I printed THESE out, cut out the individual spells, divided them between the three books, then cut them even smaller, and glued them onto the pages. Very tedious, and I recommend leaving them blank or scribbling on them.    

I also wanted to show you the potions book.

I drew bottles of the finished potion, ingredients, and other pictures, and scribbled words, while Daisy colored them. I did the pages like unfogging the future.

Also the herbology book.

Ivy did this one, drawing crazy plants, some mentioned in the books, though more often not, coloring them, and scribbling words.

Now here they are, on the train, off to Hogwarts!

Come on Kit! I'll give you Cliodna! You haven't got her yet!

*munch* No. I like Dumbledore, he's my favorite!

Please???!!! Or how about Wendelin, I'll give you Dymphna for her!
No! It took Newt and Ignatia to get her!
