Going to America - part 12 - covered wagon

Hi, sorry I didn't post anything yesterday! I had a horrible allergy attack yesterday, and all I wanted to do was find a box of tissues the size of bed sheets. 
Ok, first of all, this doesn't look the best. I recommend thinking about buying THIS before you make this. (Yes, it's expensive but it looks a whole lot better!)
You will need:
1. Cardboard boxes
2. Brown paint
3. Foam board  
4. Black or brown cording or yarn
5. Two small paper clips
6. Something curved, I used pieces of swim noodle with stick supports
7. White fabric
8. A lot of hot glue, pencil or pen, and scissors 
9. PATIENCE 

Step 1. Find a box that is wide enough for two dolls to sit on one of the short flaps, and a lot longer than mine.   

Step 2. Fold in all the flaps except for one of the smaller ones. (Am I confusing you? Just look at the pictures.)

Step 3. Now put supports in a smaller box, and put it in for the floor of the wagon. 

Step 4. Glue a small closed box under the open flap... 

 ....and glue the flap on top of it. This is the the seat.

Step 5. Now paint it all brown. I didn't have enough brown paint, so I used a bunch of paper bags.                                                                                                                                               

 Step 6. Put your horse on your foam board and draw the shape you want.

 It should look like this. Make two if you can, and glue them together. That will make it stronger.

Step 7. Now paint it brown. Mod podge if you want.

Step 8. Hold it like this on your horse, and punch two holes where the middle of the horse is.

Put the ed of what you just made under the seat, so you know how low it will be. Add cording or yarn across the middle so it hangs.

Step 9. So the horse doesn't walk right out from under it, put some at the top, but make it taunt. 

Now try it on your horse, mine is too low, so.....

...add some more yarn to hold it up.

Step 10. Take two small paperclips...

...unbend them...

....and make these two shapes.

Step 11. Stick the one with a loop under the seat of the wagon, as far in as it will go.

If the ends poke out, bend them out of the way.

Stick the other one in the thing you hitch the horses to, secure it with a little glue.

Now you can hitch your horse to your wagon. And feel free to hitch up two horses, but we only have one.

Step 12. Paint some wagon wheels on the side of the wagon, I considered painting the bottom as if you could see under neath it, but I decided not to.                                                                     

Step 13. Add little railings to the sides of the seat, you can use scrap foam board/cardboard. 

Step 14. Glue on the noodles, and sticks so they stay upright. Now start adding the fabric. Glue along the inside edge, leaving four inches out on each end. Drape you fabric over the noodles, and glue on that side.

Step 15. Fold the extra four inches of fabric in and over the noodles and glue.  

It should now look like this. 

You're done!

Going to America - part 11 -Tools

Alright! there is just this and the wagon to do, the the special post, and the series will be finished! Wow, what will I do after this? And I am trying to resist the dragon books to finish this, but it's hard. It's a dragon book! Any way, 
You will need:
1. Sticks
2. Cardboard
3. Black paint and gray paint
4. Black foam, the thick kind
5. Pencil or pen, and glue 

Step 1. Draw an ax blade on the cardboard 2" long and 1 1/2" at the tallest.

Step 2. Paint black, or cover with black paper or tape, mod podge if you like.

Step 3. Glue it onto a stick that fits in you dolls hand, and long enough for the dolls to hold comfortably. 

My stick has a notch in it, so it won't come off easily.

Step 4. Draw a saw blade 4" long and 1" high on the cardboard and cut it out.

 If you have pinking scissors, USE THEM! it is very hard to cut out all the tiny triangles.

 Step 5. Paint your blade gray, and glue it to a stick about 2" long. I didn't have paint so I used duck tape. (More tiny triangles to cut out!)

Step 6. Cut out two 2" long hammer heads out of thick craft foam, or foam board, and glue together. 

Step 7. Use your scissors to shape it like a real hammer head.

Glue to a stick, and you're done!

Going to America - part 10 - seeds and slate

Hi! I have been preparing for the end of this series, where there is going to be a surprise post, but my books just came in from the library, and I don't think that I will get much done. ;)
For the seeds, you will need:
1. Brown paper
2. Rice
3. A sharpie, scissors, ruler, and glue

Step 1. Cut out a rectangle of brown paper 1 1/2" by 4"

Step 2. Fold in half, and glue a long the sides to make a bag. Put rice in for seeds, and glue shut.

Step 3. Label with a sharpie, and make more so your doll can grow lots of things.

For a garden, wrinkle a brown blanket or large piece of fabric for tilled soil. Then your doll can scatter seeds, and watch paper shoots spring up after she waters them with a mini bucket from the dollar store or target.

For the slate, you will need:
1. Cardboard
2. Black paint (or paper)
3. Scissors, ruler, and pencil

Step 1. Cut out a cardboard rectangle 2 1/2" by 4". Round the edges. 

Step 2. Paint on a rectangle on the cardboard, leave a very small border. 

I use this brand of craft paint, and it feels a little chalky when it dries, so it's perfect! 

Now give your doll a piece of chalk and the slate, and she can do her school when there is no work to be done.

Whew. I'm exhausted. Are you? I have school, three awesome books about dragons to read, (wait, that's good!) crafts to finish, crafts to plan, crafts to finish, crafts to blog, and more crafts to finish! Oh, and one of our hens died this morning. She was with us for more than three years, and the first to die of old age, not eaten by something. On the slightly funny side, we can't tell whether it was flopsy or milky way, they were identical. XP

Going to America - part 9 - A fishing pole

Hello! I really like this craft. It's really simple, but it's so cute! 
You will need:
1. A stick, make sure that it fits in your shoe box chest 
2. String or yarn
3. Wire, or a paperclip. 
4. Glue and scissors 

Step 1. Wrap the string or yarn around one end of your stick, and glue to secure. 

Step 2. Cut of the yarn a few inches longer than the stick.

Step 3. Cut off a piece of wire 2-3" long. If you're using a paper clip, unbend it, and cut it to size.

Step 4. twist your wire in to a hook, with a loop on the top.

Step 5. Now tie the other end of the yarn on to the loop, and you're done!

I will have the seeds and slate up tomorrow, I'm having trouble with the tools.

Pretty with pink - an Elizabeth photo shoot

Hello! Today Auntie Olive took mommy and me out to teach mommy how to do photo shoots! I had fun, but I kept tipping over. :(
Mommy took all these pics with Auntie Olives help. 

These ones mommy did all by herself, picked the place, set me up, and took the pictures. 

That one has my uncle in it, oops!
Sorry about not so many crafts, I will have one tomorrow!
